Early Childhood Program
Our mission is to provide a high quality early learning experience for all children that focuses on building a strong foundation for future learning and to foster intellectual, creative, social, emotional, and physical growth and development for our students. Our play based approach will provide an environment where the children can learn by doing and implement a balance of child-directed and teacher-guided activities as well as time for individual work and small and large group activities.
The East Greenwich Early Childhood Program is a public preschool program located at Meadowbrook Farms Elementary School. Our program is an integrated model serving children with special needs and community peers from the town of East Greenwich.
What does Inclusion Mean?
"Inclusion means teaching all children together, regardless of ability level. Inclusive programs celebrate children's similarities as well as their different abilities and cultures. In inclusive classrooms, children with special needs take part in the general education curriculum based on their ages and grades. They are not put into a separate classroom, but rather the curriculum and the room are adapted to meet children's needs."
Our preschool program is available to children 3 to 5 years old.
Our program offers:
- 2 classrooms AM sessions Tuesday-Friday(3 - 3.11 years old) 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- 2 classrooms PM sessions Tuesday-Friday(4 - 5 years old) 12:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Child Outreach Screening
It is recommended that all preschool age children participate in an annual Child Outreach Screening. Screenings are held at Meadowbrook Farms Elementary School throughout the school year. Please contact the Early Childhood Coordinator for information on screening dates.
Our early childhood curriculum is aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) and is designed by our teachers to provide classroom experiences to address:
- Cognitive Development
- Language Development
- Physical Health and Motor Development
- Social and Emotional Development
- Social Studies
Child development and achievement is enhanced when parents and teachers work together. Our program encourages parents to be involved in all aspects of their child's preschool experience and ongoing communication throughout the school year is essential.
Parents are welcome to be part of Meadowbrook Farms Parent Teacher Group (PTG). Special events and parent involvement opportunities are planned throughout the school year. Once you sign up the PTG listserv you will receive a monthly newsletter throughout the school year.
