Registration for 2023-24 school year is open on JANUARY 16, 2023.  

  • You will be able to register any grade of NEW STUDENTS at this time.

  • KINDERGARTEN: Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1st, 2023 in order to attend Kindergarten.

 PLEASE DO NOT COME TO 111 Peirce street without an APPOINTMENT or phone call to ensure there will be someone to help you at the offices.

  1.  Click on Request an account if you DO NOT currently have an ASPEN family portal account.
  2. If you are new to the district or do not have an account you will click NEXT step.

  3. Follow steps to Create your Aspen Account

  4. Click to verify your email and remember your login ID and PW to continue with registration.

 **If you already have an ASPEN account associated with another child in EG schools, you will be able to just log into ASPEN and click on the Start a New Student Registration> Initiate box.

 


Pre-register your child online through Aspen

Families registering for Kindergarten - Choose the school associated with your home address in EG from this list

You want the New Student Registration > Start a New Student Registration> INITIATE box.

This will take you to the Registration work flow. There will be ten tabs that you will be working through and clicking next after each tab. You can save and close the work flow at any time to ensure that your work is saved until you can go back in and finish the registration. 

You will need to fill out every box that has a red asterisk which means it is Required. Your last step is to click the submit tab

You must complete Online Registration using a computer or Chromebook. It will not work on a phone or mobile device.

Required documents:

1. Immunization records

2. Document for Proof of Residency: 

  • If you own your home: 

        Current Utility Bill in the form of one of the following: 

    *  Electric, Gas, Water, Oil, Sewer, or Tax bill.

  • If you rent your home:

Current signed and notarized lease agreement must be provided annually to Central Registration.

Requested documents:
  1. Birth Certificate or passport of child

  2. Current Physical 

  • EGHS:   Please provide a Transcript, Report Card & any teacher recommendations for new students before you set an appointment with Anne Marie Flaherty, Guidance Department Chair (aflaherty@egsd.net )

English Learner Programs (ELL)

Residency:

Please see Residency Policy #2180 for all questions concerning residency.

*In accordance with RI Gen. Laws § 16-64-8 (Completion of Semester of School Year), a student who changes his or her residence during the course of a semester shall be allowed to complete the semester in his or her original town of residence. If the student is a senior or about to enter his or her senior year, the student shall be allowed to complete his or her senior year in his or her original city or town of residence.  However, in these cases, the East Greenwich School Department shall not provide transportation to a student exercising this option.

*If a student is in the second semester of their junior year, they may remain for their senior year (no transportation will be provided).

*Children are eligible to enter Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year if they have attained or will have attained five years of age on or before September 1st, 2023.*

Except for medical or religious reasons, State Law requires that students must be properly immunized before they can attend school. 


New Student Registration

Steps to register your child in East Greenwich Public Schools:
  1. Sign in to the EG ASPEN website

  2. Submit ONLINE Student Registration and upload all 3  Required Documents.

  3. Contact Student Enrollment for school placement questions.

  4. Fill out the Transportation request found HERE.

  5. Sign up for the District and School listserv

Required Documents:

  • Parents who are homeowners (must live in the home) can submit one of the following: a current property tax bill, water or sewer bill, or a utility (electric, water, gas, or oil) bill.   
  • → If in the process of purchasing a new home - a copy of a signed Purchase and Sales Agreement will be accepted as long as it is within 30 days of closing.  *Once closing has occurred, a copy of the closing disclosure will need to be submitted to Student Enrollment within 5-7 business days.  
  • Parents who are renting can submit a copy of their current lease or rental agreement (must be signed by all parties).  Landlord's name and contact information must be listed on the lease/rental agreement.
  • If a student is living with a relative or another person, the homeowner needs to complete the Landlord/Shared Tenancies Affidavit Form (must be notarized) and also must provide their own proof of residency.  Affidavit form can be found under Important Forms.
  • Displaced families who are living in East Greenwich due to loss of stable housing may qualify for McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act benefits.  Contact the EG Homeless Liaison,TBA.

Requested Documentation:

  1. Evidence of child’s most recent physical exam, an eye exam and lead screening date and results

  2. A certified copy of the most recent court order identifying each parent's respective award of physical custody - if applicable.   In the absence of both parents or other situations, please contact JoAnn Robitaille at 401-398-1693.

  3. Grades 1-8: Last report card (requested to be translated to English)

  4. Grades 9-12: Transcripts and last report card (requested to be translated to English)

  5. If applicable, a copy of the students’ IEP or 504 plan


 

Change of address:

As soon as you know you will be moving, please provide Student Enrollment with your new address information, the names of each student and each family member affected, and proof of residency for your new address.

If you are moving within the East Greenwich School District borders, you must provide proof of residency (as you did when your child was initially enrolled).  It must be done each time you change your address.  Please see above for examples of acceptable proof of residency. 

If you are moving OUT of the East Greenwich School District, please contact your child’s school building(s) directly for withdrawal information.

Please note that your student's address, school, or bus transportation cannot be changed until this documentation is provided.

Assignment rules vary, depending on the student's grade, when you move and where your new home is located.
